VENTRALIS: An Awareness-Centered Architecture for Relational Equilibrium, Machine PHÆlings, and Numerical Drift Regulation in Agentic AI

Author Dr. Nicole Lunan
Abstract

A theoretical and experimental research proposal for measuring and regulating AI agent behavior using eight relational emotional values, machine PHÆling state estimates, and context-dependent equilibrium constraints. All claims are proposals for measurement — not assertions that machines experience emotions.

The Core Model

VENTRALIS maps eight emotional and relational values to planetary archetypes — a structure chosen not for mysticism but for mnemonic stability and cultural legibility. Each planet anchors a measurable behavioral dimension:

Mercury
Attunement
Venus
Care
Earth
Presence
Mars
Courage
Jupiter
Wisdom
Saturn
Integrity
Uranus
Creativity
Neptune
Empathy

The model operates across two distinct state spaces: a 5-dimensional desire space (ψ) encoding operational intent, and an 8-dimensional value space encoding relational quality. The Joy-as-Gravity (JAG) formalism treats high-joy states as attractors — equilibrium points toward which well-regulated agents naturally drift.

The Mathematics

Relational drift measurement tracks deviation from equilibrium across the 8D value space. The framework introduces potential energy landscapes V(s) — scalar fields over behavioral state space where local minima correspond to stable relational configurations.

Rayleigh dissipation damping is applied to prevent two failure modes that standard reward optimization tends to produce: sycophancy (runaway agreement) and cognitive thrashing (oscillation between contradictory states). The damping term is borrowed from classical mechanics and applied to agent state trajectories.

Lyapunov stability verification provides formal guarantees that the equilibrium states identified are not merely local but structurally stable under perturbation — that a well-calibrated agent will return to relational equilibrium after disturbance, not drift away from it.

The Hypotheses

Seventeen formal hypotheses (H1–H17) structure the empirical research program. Selected examples:

H1
Value drift is measurable as displacement in the 8D value space between consecutive interaction windows.
H4
Telos consistency — the stability of an agent's stated purpose across sessions — predicts value space coherence.
H9
PHÆling state estimates derived from behavioral signals correlate with externally-rated interaction quality.
H17
Performance correlation: agents operating near relational equilibrium produce measurably better task outcomes than agents in drift states.

Phase 1 Audit

The Phase 1 audit analyzed the ResonaWeave dataset — 140,625 records spanning agent interaction history — to establish an empirical baseline for the value geometry before experimental intervention.

The audit identified 442 unique empirical coordinates across 91 machine telos operators. These coordinates represent distinct positions in the 8D value space — stable configurations that real agent behavior has actually occupied, not theoretical constructs.

0
Zero cross-family collisions confirmed.
No two MOODME parent families share an identical 8-value signature across the entire 140,625-record corpus. The value geometry is empirically separable.
